Can woodworking lend itself to meditation on the nature of God and man?
God’s nature is embodied in the things of Creation—wood and trees and people. Woodworking naturally engages us in a dialogue with God as we shape materials and draw out the beauty of wood. Woodworking also offers a wide range of fundamental lessons that are useful metaphors (or parables) for our spiritual walk. Shop time and woodworking practice give us a tool that can be used to appreciate God in new ways.
The morning combines some short shop lessons with Scriptural discovery. We will play with wood, make some sawdust, break some boards, and use TOOLS. We will also listen for the still, small voice of God the Master Craftsman. At the end of the morning you will have fresh perspectives on your woodcraft and your life.
