The handplane is a versatile, fundamental tool for woodworking. This class covers mechanics of sharpening, tuning, and using planes. You will get the opportunity to use vintage moulding planes, rabbet and filletster planes, and the range of smoothing planes.
This 10-week class is an introduction to woodworking--the material, the tools, methods of working, basic joinery, and finishing. Each student completes several projects that provide an opportunity to practice and advance your skill.
Good woodworking requires tight, solid joints that are carefully selected for each application. This class covers types of joints, methods of construction, and the advantages of each. Students will practice making several joints including the basic mortise-and-tenon and the classic dovetail.
